Gov. Ron DeSantis has eviscerated New College of Florida, a small, left-leaning liberal arts college in Sarasota. Sophia Brown, a student at the college that had been a haven, particularly for queer kids and students of color, said many in the school community fear that what made New College special might be irretrievably lost.
